We stopped for two nights in Zagora, the southern most destination of our tour. The weather was hot and sunny, 38°. Four of us took a 4×4 trip into the desert, driving down to Mhamid and on into the Sahara. We drove through sand dunes dotted with tamarisk trees before reaching a more desolate area of sand and stones. We stopped for lunch at a nomad camp that was used for tourists staying overnight in the desert. Our tour took us to within 30K of the Algerian border.
For me I found the trip too hot, too bumpy and much too long. We drove for four hours and, apart for our lunch stop and passing an oasis, we saw nothing but sand, rocks and tamarisk – it was deserted . . . . a desert!
